For the serious ballet student, Forest Dance Academy offers additional study of the Cecchetti-method of ballet, a series of graded ballet classes. There are several schools of methods of teaching ballet including Balenchine (American Method), Bournonville (Danish Method), Paris Opera Ballet (French), Royal Academy of Dancing/RAD (English), Vaganova (Russian) and the Italian Method of Cecchetti. This method was developed from the incomparable teachings of Maestro Enrico Cecchetti. It is a carefully graded progressive system with examinations for both children and professional dancers with special exercises just for the male dancer. This technique creates a strong foundation and displays powerful footwork, dynamic turns and aplomb, and establishes technique for arm flow through various positions. The Cecchetti method is known for its pure, classical technique created during the Romantic period of ballet. Students learn terminology, discipline, concentration and endurance and become proficient in fundamental dance movement and ballet technique. The Cecchetti method begins with Grade Level 1 and goes through Grade Level 8. Students study one class of work and perfect that class. The Cecchetti Council of America holds examinations in classical ballet for students and teachers who are training in the Cecchetti method. The Syllabus tests the technical and artistic accomplishments of student candidates who have been prepared by member teachers. The same lessons are repeated and studied each week focusing on technique and placement.

CECCHETTI
